Celebrate Tanabata with Starry Sky!

What are you doing?!  Go to Honeybee now and see your Tanabata messages!  I tried to translate the rest with my epic-failure Japanese, but I hope it helps.  (Please don't scroll down beyond the warning sign if you don't want spoilers on what the messages are) Spread the love to your friends!
It says:
"Do you have someone you could only meet once a year?"
Festival of the Weaver
(Open! -- duh on translating this last one, lol)

July 7 marks the Tanabata Festival in Japan (Tanabata literally means "Evening of the Seventh"). For those who have played Starry Sky ~In Summer~ Ryonosuke-kun explains the story between the lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi.

Orihime (織姫) was a weaver who lived by the bank of the Amanogawa (天の川 'Milky Way'). She worked hard everyday to make beautiful cloths for her father, the Tentei (天帝 'Sky King'). Her father was very pleased with her, however, Orihime became isolated since she worked so hard everyday. Worried about her daughter, Tentei arranged for her to meet Hikoboshi (彦星 'Cow Herder Star'), who lived and worked as a cow herder on the other side of the Amanogawa.

Orihime and Hikoboshi fell in love immediately and married. However, once married, Orihime stopped weaving cloth for Tantei, and Hikoboshi no longer tended to his cows, letting them astray across heaven. This angered Tentei, and he separated the lovers across the Amanogawa. Orihime cried to his father and begged him to allow them to meet. Moved by Orihime's tears, Tentei allowed the two to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month if she worked hard and finished her weaving.

The first time they tried to meet, however, they found that they could not cross the river because there was no bridge. Orihime cried until a flock of magpies came and promised to make a bridge with their wings so that she could cross the river.

And so, once a year, these star-crossed lovers meet again.

Pink Text says:
"Once a year, the one day Orihime and Hikoboshi meet.
Lovers who want to see each other everyday...
yet they cannot.

On this day - the Evening of the Seventh - they are allowed to be together.
If you and your lover were to become Orihime and Hikoboshi,
and go see him at night, this one time of the year,
who would you choose to meet?
That person is..."

(translated as best as I could.  Some words were a first encounter for me, like pattsun [Asuza's hairstyle],  noppo [a snack shaped like a log, describing Homare's height] and Ohisama [Naoshi-sensei's cheery personality was likened to the protagonist of this Japanese film].  Just sharing.  Geh, now I want to do an English version for all the cards and mini-icons. lol.)

Tomoe Yoh

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

The next time I see you, I would have fallen even more in love.
I would look at you as if you were already mine.
Our hearts would be as one
That's why even if you are alone, there would be no need for uneasiness.

Amaha Tsubasa

If I were to be Hikoboshi and you were be Orihime...
I'd invent something that can cross the Milky Way
and then I'd come pick you up.
This invention won't fail me
So, stay by my side...forever and ever.

Nanami Kanata

If we were Hikoboshi and Orihime...

I'd take tons of pictures of the stars and give them to you.
All the stars you like so much, every one of them.
While we're apart, I'd like you to to look at them, to smile and...be happy.

Shiranui Kazuki

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

Meeting just once a year...that's impossible for me.
If I could rewrite our destiny, then nobody can stop me from doing just that.

Kanakubo Homare

If I were Hokiboshi and you were Orihime...

Let's say, "Come, come shooting star~" and ask them to grant our wish.
Let's write them on the wishing cards, too:

"We hope the two of us will be together forever."

Mizushima Iku

If I were to be Hikoboshi, then you'd be Orihime. If so...

I would curse those magpies,
And I would cross the Milky Way myself and come to get you.
Then I could tell to you the words you hate to hear most
Whispering them softly, in your ear.

(Iku...he is such a sexy sadist.)

Tohzuki Suzuya

If we were to become Hikoboshi and Orihime...

I would not listen to the Lord of the Heavens.
No matter what it would take, I'd use any means to reach you.
Then, I would hold you in my arms and never, never let you go.

(Awwwsh...Suzuya!*nosebleed*)

Haruki Naoshi

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

With all my might, I'd keep shouting across the Milky Way
until it reaches you on the other side:
"HEY, I LOVE YOU!"
I'd cry out to you over and over, until I my voice runs out.

Aozora Hayato

If I were Hikobishi and you were Orihime...

During the time we are apart
I will make a melody to cheer you up.
A song that will carry all my feelings for you...
And with this music, I want to embrace you.

Hoshizuki Kotarou

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

I can't lose you a second time,
So let's appeal the Lord of the Heavens to allow us to meet.
I may not be good at convincing him but...
in order to see you, I'll try as best as I can.

 Miyaji Ryonosuke

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

I'd give it everything I've got so I could be with you
To see that smile of yours,
I'd do anything...everything I can.

Kinose Asuza

If I were to be Hikoboshi and Sempai were Orihime...

There would be no reason for me to wait a whole year.
If it were me, no matter what the obstacle, I would make my way through.
I'll go see you right away.

Kagurazaka Shiki

If I were Hikoboshi and you were Orihime...

I would ask the magpies to help me.
I'm sure they would understand my desire to see you.
The magpies will come help so I can see you, so please wait.

(Two words: Very Shiki. :D )

  1. I love Kazuki's and Suzuya's the most *A* And damn, Iku is such a sexy tease ;_; Ryunosuke's is somewhat generic, which is sad ;_;

Thank you so much for translating this! Without you, I'd have to wait until I can understnd it myself...which would be ....hell, if I know, that's the problem.

Isn't 'noppo' and 'pattsun' part of Tsubasa's nickname for Homare and Azusa each? Or that is what a friend of mine told me when I asked her how Tsubasa calls the two xD

  4. @Celestie - Miyaji-kun says "doryoku suru" which he often said in the game (i'll work hard, put in effort). To me it feels very much like his character, since he's not the type to stand out by talent, but by perseverance he shines :) [my obvious Miyaji-love-hormones, lol]

As for Tsubasa I have no clue what he says half the time (cannot find in my Random House Jap dictionary!) This was the first time I looked the words up via internet.

As for me, I'm biased so I go in this order of favorites:
Asuza (in short, he says, 'no problem!' lol)
    Suzuya (mmm...uber-yandere)
    Iku (sexy sadist)
    Naoshi (LOLd at his message)
Hayato (really romantic, though I think I messed up the translation somewhere)

  5. Ahaha, well, you are obviously talking to someone who has never played the summer-game (or any other game besides Spring) before, which is a sad thing. (I think I seriously need to play the game to fall for Scorpio, I just like him for his seiyuu for now xD) Plus, someone who cannot read and understand Japanese ;_;

Japan has some of the most romantic and beautiful festivals and events, I swear! East Asia in general but Japan the most (but then again, I am biased). Honeybee knows how to bait their fans xD I mean, tears of the Polestar and After Autumn IS coming up soon...

I also like Iku's, very sexy >< And Kotarou-sensei's are just sooo like him, trying to convince lord of heaven, lol.

  8. @Myself - just realized I translated Yoh-kun's description wrong. "Ahoge" should have been "Alfalfa hair" instead of "Red-haired". Sorry Yoh, I still love ya to pieces!

I love Suzuya's piece very much. he's my number one! but much to my surprise, I love Shiranui's as well. Suzuya and Shiranui's pieces are just right to my definition of romantic, kyaaaaaa!

Ryuunosuke and Kotarou are my favorite ones too, however their pieces make me a little bit disappointed. of course their pieces are 'so like them', but still haven't satisfied me..

and thank you for translating this..
