Kareshi Recipe CD

Well, what to say with this...it's like every chore can be theme to a drama CD now. (^0^)  I hope next time they can make one about vacuuming the carpets and doing laundry, too.  That would certainly make my weekend cleanups much more romantic.

Just to sum it up, Kareshi Recipe is set up so the guy cooks with you.  There's a newly-wed feel to it when I think about it, although you're not married to him yet. (Egads, my nose is already bleeding just typing this.)  They're also unexpectedly humorous, which is a good break from an all-mush fest.  Menu 01 is voiced by Ono Daisuke-san, and Menu 02 by Yoshino Hiroyuki-san.

Menu 01:

こねこねハンバーグととろ～りブリュレ～

You are currently going out with Ono D's character, and you have arranged to have a dinner date at his place.  In the first track he's on his way back from shopping for the things you will use, but he remembers he forgot to buy something.  So he calls you, and asks you a favor if you could buy it for him, but realizing it would delay your meeting, he mumbles "I'd rather see you sooner," and decides to go back and buy it himself instead. Aww...(*^___^*)

When you get to his house, you realize you forgot to bring your apron.  He lends you his, and ties it back for you, but he sees it's a little oversized.  Inwardly, he thinks you look cute in it.

The cooking tutorial is surprisingly realistic.  Your menu is hamburger and creme brulee.  Ono D makes a really encouraging teacher -- he'll praise you from time to time, and when he's teaching he's so gentle with you that you might want to hold that knife a little stronger or you'll drop it.

Now the funny parts....In this CD, you happen to be a real amateur at cooking (ah, finally some reality to women around the world.)  Like in one point, Ono D decides to taste your cooking and goes "Mmm...Hmmm....? Gu--gu...urrghhh....Uh...wow, this tastes great!  But you absolutely mustn't taste this, I'll do the tasting ok?"  Hilariously sweet.

Another time, when the meal is all set at the table, he sings "Go~han, go~han go~haaaan!" Ah, that was so uber-cute I ripped the track and made a ring tone out of it.

Lots of other cooking mishaps and bloopers happen all throughout the CD, but my favorite must be the last track, when your romantic kissing scene is interrupted by the cooking timer going off!

I can't help but think Menu 01 is so Suzuya-ish (in a good way).  It's not just OnoD's voice, but the set-up and personality are also similar.  Nonetheless, you'll still feel all giddy listening to this, and even pick up a few pointers for cooking along the way. :)

 

Like I can make something like this...but hey, with Ono D backing you up, right?

Menu 02

～アイツに敎わる,ぷりっとエビチリとふんわり杏仁～

Yoshino-san's character is kind of like a tsukommi-boke two-in-one. He's mostly in monologue mode, but you'll laugh at almost all his comments.  Yoshino-san's character is your osananajimi / childhood friend / self-proclaimed King of Romance.  Of course, since you're already going out with Ono D's character, he's forced to linger in one-sided love. So he tries to cover up his feelings by teasing you and making jokes. *sobs*

Notwithstanding, his cooking skills are at par with Ono D's character.  Your menu is fried shrimp with chilli and fluffy almond (according to google translate *laughs*) And I like the way he teaches you, he sounds so animated it's like a coach shouting to a basketball player from the sidelines...In one point, when the shrimp you're frying is ready to take out, he suddenly yells, "Ima, ima da! Now, noooooow!" (Yes, he switched to english, lol)

Mmmm...the day I can make this must be a dream.
